From the 1-7 June, the sport and recreation sector is being encouraged to get behind Women’s Sport Week.

Led by the charity Women in Sport, along with sport national governing bodies, major media suppliers, businesses and delivery partners including Sport England, the week is an opportunity for everybody involved with playing, delivering, leading or working in sport to celebrate, raise awareness and increase the profile of women’s sport across the UK.

Women’s Sport Week is the outcome of a process that began in 2013 when the Government established a ‘Women and Sport Advisory Board’ in order to engage more strategically with the sectors that influence the sporting landscape. The Advisory Board published its independent final report in March 2015, providing some recommendations for future action around women’s sport of which Women’s Sport week was one.

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is encouraging all of its members to get behind Women’s Sport Week and promote the achievements of their female players, sports and activities.

More information about Women’s Sport Week and the planned activities can be found here.
