The Sport and Recreation Alliance has today released its 2024/25 Impact Report, highlighting some of the organisation’s key achievements from the last 12 months.
From the Let’s Dance! campaign to our work around the 2024 General Election, the Alliance has sought to advocate for members and the wider sector as we promote the benefits of having sport and recreation at the heart of a healthier and happier nation.
Some of the highlights include:
Plenty of other achievements are detailed in the Impact Report, including some of our policy work on key issues for members, including Martyn’s Law and Regulation of Medical Care at Sports Grounds and Events. Our in-house research and governance teams also provided their expert support to members across a number of projects, including the upcoming Reconomics 3.0 report, and our successful series of EDI Roundtable events.
We were also honoured to be joined at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by our President, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, for our Annual General Meeting in 2024, where Dame Sarah Storey was awarded the Arthur Bell Trophy, and Monica Burton BEM, a pivotal figure in British yoga for over 55 years, was presented with the Spirit of Sport and Recreation Award.
On the launch of the Impact Report, Sport and Recreation Alliance CEO, Lisa Wainwright MBE said:
“We are delighted to launch our Impact Report for 2024/25, which highlights the immense amount of work the Alliance has done over the past 12 months on behalf of our members.
It was another landmark year for us, as we began working with a new Government to ensure that sport and recreation is made a priority. Our #TaketheLead campaign highlighted that the UK has so much work to do to make sure we are as active as our European neighbours, and are able to access all the societal, economic and health benefits that sport and recreation bring.
I am also immensely proud of the events we have put on this year for members, as well as the incredible services provided by our policy, research and governance teams. We look forward to continuing to work with members this year as we head into a new strategy cycle, and continue to deliver on the priorities that matter to them.”
