Walking the Talk: Be the most active member of Alliance!

Walking the Talk: Be the most active member of Alliance! news article image

CSP Network Chief Executive Lee Mason reminds us how we can help keep our staff fit and healthy through the Workplace Challenge...

Those of us who work in sport are often so busy encouraging other people to be more active, we can struggle to find time to practice what we preach.

Yet we all know the benefits of taking part in more sport and physical activity, and of course, these benefits are not just for the individual, but can also help benefit organisations through increased health, reduced absenteeism, increased productivity and a more motivated workforce.

Thats why we have created the Workplace Challenge, a unique, free access on-line tool to encourage employees and workplaces to challenge themselves and others to increase their physical activity levels. The programme provides activity logging challenges supplemented by off-line activity programmes coordinated by CSPs locally, along with training for Workplace Challenge Champions in Partnership with the British Heart Foundation.

It's great to see many staff from Alliance member bodies already supporting the programme, with over 600 staff from 30 sports bodies already registered. The ASA have most people registered, with England Hockey racking up the most points in the current #MyTeam2015 challenge, and Kent FA heading the leaderboard for average points per member of staff.

It would be great to see more sports bodies encouraging their staff to sign up, to ensure we are not neglecting our own activity levels but leading by example and 'walking the talk'. Its a great team building activity too!

There are still over 3 weeks left in the current workplace challenge and so plenty of time to climb the leaderboards!

Encourage your employees to sign up now at www.workplacechallenge.org.uk and share your #MyTeam2015 journey with us on social media.

If you would like to discuss the programme further, please contact Andrew Watson awatson@cspnetwork.org
