Last year, the Alliance’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards recognised seven sports clubs which blazed a trail for community sport – they attracted volunteers, linked up with schools, came up with fresh ways of doing things and put green issues at the top of their agenda.
This year’s nominations are now open, and in a year where London 2012 took the country by storm, the Alliance is looking to hear from even more clubs, programmes and initiatives that did great things for attracting more people to take part in their sport and recreational activity.
The 2013 Community Sport + Recreation Awards are open to all kinds of clubs, classes, programmes and initiatives.
There are six categories and winners will receive cash prizes of up to £2,000:
The Alliance is encouraging all of our members to endorse and nominate up to three clubs, programmes or initiatives which deserve top prizes and national recognition.
Sports clubs are also encouraged to nominate themselves, making contact with their governing body to gain their endorsement.
Nominations will be shortlisted and winners will be selected by a panel of judges chaired by Radio 5 Live presenter Eleanor Oldroyd.
Winners will be presented their awards at St. James's Palace on 9 July by Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.
The entry deadline is 3 May.
