The Spirit of 2012 Trust, an independent trust that was created as part of the legacy from London 2012, funds projects which empower people to get out, be involved and feel better, has launched a new fund that focuses on inspiring people through movement and dance.
As part of their work the Trust launched “The Spirit of Achievement Challenge Fund” in February 2015 with a focus on investing in projects that increase engagement levels amongst those currently least engaged in arts and culture and increase the depth and quality of people’s cultural experiences.
This year the focus of the Challenge Fund is all about inspiring people through music and dance.
Grants of between £100,000 and £250,000 will be awarded for three-year projects that meet the following criteria:
1. Frequent, regular and sustained opportunity for beneficiaries to enjoy and develop in music and/or dance as performers, producers and audiences
2. Disabled and non-disabled people participating together in music and/or dance on equal terms with their families and friends
3. Beneficiaries empowered with enhanced confidence, expressive ability and new skills
4. Beneficiaries enabled, whatever their role in the project, to recognise and articulate what they have gained from taking part
5. Showcasing and celebrating the quality of live and/or recorded music and/or dance productions to appreciative audiences
To be eligible for funding:
• Projects must take place in England and/or Wales
• Applications must come from organisations, as opposed to individuals
• Capital costs must not be more than 10% of the overall project budget
Applications are open now and close on 22 April. For more information on the Challenge Fund, click here.
