The Sport and Recreation Alliance is one of five National Delivery Partners currently working on the Progress project. The project is being delivered on behalf of Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC’s) Young People’s Workforce Reform Programme Board (comprising of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, Department for Education and CWDC) by a partnership led by the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS).
The purpose of Progress is to build workforce capacity by enhancing the skills and training of those working with young people in the voluntary and community sector. It is offering 25,000 accredited training opportunities for volunteers and paid staff both locally, regionally and nationally.
The training delivered is consistent and accessible to learners in England and is being supplied by both local and national training providers who will have been taught specifically to deliver it.
An accessible and appropriate curriculum for the training has been developed with the help of the five National Delivery Partners. All training is accredited and can build towards qualifications, with many course units offered which will enhance the skills of people working with children and young people in a sports and recreation environment. These include units such as ‘Equality and Diversity’, ‘Working within a play environment with children and young people’ and ‘Promoting equality and inclusion’.
