Nominations open for the Community Sport and Recreation Awards 2021

Nominations open for the Community Sport and Recreation Awards 2021 news article image

For over 25 years, we have been running our awards programme which focuses on celebrating the very best projects and initiatives at the grassroots level in the sport and recreation sector.

This year has been unlike any other and we would love to recognise all those who have helped the nation to stay active, healthy and happy at this incredibly challenging time.

The awards are free and simple to enter and we are keen to hear about your projects and initiatives that work with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

There are five categories in which you can enter, with each winning project picking up a £1,000 prize at a virtual awards ceremony in February. The five categories are:

  • Youth Development Award
  • Resilience in Adversity Award
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Award
  • Diversity and Inclusion Award
  • Sustainable Programme Award

Previous winners have used their prize money to purchase new kit and equipment, provide coaching qualifications to develop their volunteers and keep their facilities open for longer, to name just a few examples.

Here, 2020 Volunteering Award winners, Active Life: She’s Ready, explain what winning an award has meant for them and why everyone should enter.

You can view all our winners from the last five years on our alumni page.

Still struggling for inspiration? We’ve put together a top tips document to help you get started with your entry.

Applicants must either be a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, be affiliated or work in partnership with a member to be considered for an award. Head to our membership directory for guidance.

The deadline for entries is midnight on Monday 21 December. For more details on the process, the criteria and how to enter, visit our Community Sport and Recreation Awards page or email awards@sportandrecreation.org.uk.

International Women's Day: Progress and the Continued Need for Female Leadership in Sport and Recreation

International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the importance of gender equality, not just in society at large, but in all sectors, including sport and recreation.
