Nominations are now being taken for the Arthur Bell Trophy and the Emeritus Award, presented at the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s Annual General Meeting.
The Emeritus Award has been in existence for over ten years and is awarded for life-long or sustained service to sport and recreation or for long service to the Alliance. Last year this was presented to Allan Dean-Lewis MBE [Motor Sports Association], Phillip Kimberley [past Chairman of England Hockey] and Hilary Weedon [Alliance Vice President] and other recipients have included Sir Hugh Robertson KCMG and Dame Diana Ellis [Alliance Vice President].
The Arthur Bell Trophy is presented each year to the individual or organisation that is deemed to have made an outstanding contribution to the development of community sport. Last year the Trophy was presented to Lord Smith of Kelvin KT, as Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee and other recipients have included Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Baroness Sue Campbell CBE, Sir Bobby Charlton CBE, Lord Sebastian Coe CH KBE and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT.
The Sport and Recreation Alliance is encouraging all its members to consider nominating individuals for both the Emeritus Award and Arthur Bell Trophy to be presented at the 2016 Annual General Meeting.
In line with its Equality and Diversity Policy, the Alliance would welcome nominations from all sections of the community.
Please note that, unless you are an Honorary Member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, your nomination will need endorsement by your organisation and we shall contact the relevant person [according to our records] on your behalf. If you are an Honorary Member, you may submit a nomination without the need for this endorsement.
The date for this year’s Annual General Meeting has not yet been set and more information will follow in due course.
Application forms should be received no later than 5pm on Friday 26 February 2016
