Lucy Katan, Membership Manager at the Sport and Recreation Alliance, updates us on the five new organisations that have recently joined the Alliance.
Parkrun, BTTAD, Obstacle Course Racing UK and Team Activ have joined over 320 governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation as members of the Alliance.
Parkrun organise weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and people of every ability are encouraged to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience.
British Table Tennis Association for people with Disabilities (BTTAD) is the organisation recognised by UK Sport as the NGB for disability table tennis.
Obstacle Course Racing Association UK (OCRAUK) is the new NGB for the sport of obstacle course racing. It is committed to being the independent representative for and on behalf of the sport of OCR and its valued athletes and supporters.
Team Activ is a not-for-profit organisation that works with individual people, schools, businesses and communities to drive change in how sport is used. Its efforts are focused on improving physical education amongst communities, businesses and schools.
Joining the Alliance
The Alliance has two membership levels – Full and Associate. The 320-plus members are grouped into five divisions including Major Spectator Sports, Games and Sports, Movement and Dance, Outdoor Pursuits and Water Recreation.
As the umbrella body for sport and recreation our role is to speak up on our members' behalf, represent their views and to provide them with services which make their life easier.
Members are able to access a range of services, information, events, advice and guidance.
For more information about joining the Sport and Recreation Alliance please email Lucy Katan or call 020 7976 3928.
