New guide launches to help organise community events

New guide launches to help organise community events news article image

The Cabinet Office has released a new guide to help those looking to organise a voluntary or community event.

Voluntary and community events are a crucial part of everyday life and help encourage people to play a more active part in society. They may celebrate a particular occasion, raise funds for a good cause or simply bring people in a community closer together.

The Can Do guide, which the Sport and Recreation Alliance and many of its members fed into, will help facilitate these events and offers advice on:

  • any licences or permissions you may need
  • how to keep volunteers and participants safe
  • food safety
  • road closures
  • insurance.
