The Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity have announced a new award to put swimming pools to the test. Following on from the success of the National Pool Safety Award (NPSA) which resulted in a large number of pools putting themselves forward to be assessed against British Standards, IMSPA are launching a new award to assesses pools against the recently released European Standard EN15288.
Speaking on behalf of the Institute Sean Holt (CEO of IMSPA) said:
“As the professional development body for UK Sport and Physical Activity we believe that it is important that we support pool operators to ensure that they are up to date with the current standards and best practice in swimming pool safety and water quality across Europe. The award provides a practical approach to the assessment of a pool with a visit and one day audit with an independent expert.
"We are optimistic that in the future the (EPSA) will be as recognised by the public as the ‘Blue Flag’ award currently used to designate a safe and clean beach. We very much hope that pool operator will recognise the importance of the award and sign up.”
For more information about the award please contact IMSPA’s Business Development Manager on 01509 226488 or see the website for further details.
