Guess the weight of red tape

Guess the weight of red tape news article image

As part of the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s launch of Red Card to Red Tape – How sports clubs want to break free from bureaucracy, we assembled a stack of forms and guidance which a sports club would typically have to complete over the course of a year, to illustrate the scale of bureaucracy facing sports clubs.

Attendees were invited to guess the weight of the pile of forms, which weighed in at a hefty 3.48kg, with the prize for the person with the closest guess being a £250 donation to a sports club in their constituency. The results of the competition were as follows:

1st place - Ian Austin MP
2nd place - Heather Wheeler MP
3rd place - Mark Pawsey MP
