The government’s Growth Voucher scheme has launched, offering business advice grants of up to £2,000 for businesses in England employing less than 250 people.

The Growth Vouchers programme allows small businesses to get strategic business advice from a company on the Enterprise Nation Marketplace for 50% of the total cost of the advice – up to the value of £2,000.

The majority of businesses that participate in the programme are allocated vouchers to spend on one of five categories of support:

  • Finance and cash flow
  • Recruiting and developing staff
  • Improving leadership and management skills
  • Marketing, attracting and keeping customers
  • Making the most of digital technology

Most national governing bodies will be eligible for this opportunity as the qualifying conditions to apply for a voucher are that your business must:

  • have 249 employees or less
  • be registered in England
  • actively sell goods or services
  • be independent (ie no more than 25% is owned by other businesses or organisations)
  • have a turnover of less than €50 million.

Lucy Katan, Membership Manager at the Sport and Recreation Alliance, thinks that Growth Vouchers could really help sport and recreation organisations.

“Growth Vouchers are great way to get double the amount of advice your business can afford. The application process is really straight forward and if you are successful you are free to use your voucher with one of the many providers on the Enterprise Nation Marketplace “

Growth voucher applications are being taken until March 2015.
