British Triathlete and four time World Ironman Champion Chrissie Wellington has been confirmed as the second keynote speaker for the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s Sports Summit 2015 – and earlybird places are still available.
Joining our second keynote, Sport England’s CEO Jennie Price, Chrissie will be sharing her thoughts on this year’s theme of how the sector can make sure it’s Fit for the Future. In doing so she will be drawing on her personal experiences as one of the UK’s finest athletes, as well as her work as Head of Participation at parkrun.
Chrissie competed in her first amateur Triathlon at the Eton Supersprint in 2004 and from there never looked back. She went professional in 2007 and won the first of her World Ironman Championship titles that same year in Kona. She subsequently added three more World Ironman titles to her name in 2008, 2009 and 2011 as well as countless other wins.
She first started working for parkrun in February 2013 and is responsible for “banging the drum for participation” within parkrun, and also working with other organisations to promote healthy lifestyles and participation in physical activity.
Topics of discussion at this year’s Sports Summit will include:
• funding
• technology
• the health of the sector
• corporate governance
• EU funding
A full agenda will be released very soon and we’ll be sharing news of other exciting speakers we have lined up over the coming weeks.
The early bird offer runs until 4 May and prices are:
• £300+VAT corporate
• £210+VAT non-members
• £135+VAT members
