Football World Cup extended hours licence: Have your say

Football World Cup extended hours licence: Have your say news article image

The Home Office has published a two week consultation on potential extended hours for pubs and bars for the football World Cup.

The consultation, which runs from 13-26 March asks whether all on-trade premises should be allowed to open for 3, 3½ or 4 hours after kick-off or whether premises should have to apply for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN).

A TEN currently costs £21, but under the current licensing consultation could go up to a maximum of £100.

The kick off times for the England matches during the World Cup are:

  • England v Italy 14 June, 11pm
  • England v Uruguay 19th June, 8pm
  • England v Costa Rica 24 June, 5pm kick-off.

If England progress beyond the group stage, most of the second round matches begin at 9pm.

Respond to the consultation.
