Driving positive conversations around mental health

More than 300 signatories have pledged their support for the Charter to date, having committed to taking direct action to create an inclusive sporting environment, encouraging positive conversations about mental health and actively challenging the stigma around the subject.

Emma Boggis, Chief Executive of the Sport and Recreation Alliance commented:

"We created the Charter in partnership with Mind and the PPF to use the power of sport and recreation to promote good mental health and wellbeing through being physically active. It’s been fantastic to see so many organisations engaging with the Charter over the past three years, and signatories have made huge strides in helping to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health.

“Since we launched the Charter in 2015, we have also seen the Government increasingly talking about sport and mental health, with mental wellbeing established as one of the five key outcomes at the heart of Sporting Future, Baroness Grey-Thompson's independent Duty of Care report in 2017 and most recently Government's Mental Health Action Plan for Elite Sport.

“I look forward to continuing our work with members and the Government, and to seeing the sector continue to drive positive conversations and direct action around mental health for many years to come."
