David Stalker, the ukactive Chief Executive, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
CIMSPA is the chartered professional development body for the sport and physical activity sector in the UK and was launched in 2011.
Stalker’s appointment comes alongside the recruitment of several new CIMPSA board members and his main focus will be supporting the transition of CIMSPA in line with its business plan approved by members in November 2013. He will also lead the recruitment of a full time CEO to build upon the work of the transitional team currently in place.
Following David Stalker’s year-long term an independent non-executive chair will be appointed as originally outlined by the business and governance plan discussed at the 2013 CIMPSA annual general meeting.
Speaking on his appointment, David Stalker, said:
"I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to support the Interim COO and in due course CEO to grasp all of the opportunities that are falling in front of the Institute.
"It will be a challenging and busy year but I believe in the importance and potential of the Institute more than ever before and am delighted that we are beginning to see it come to fruition.”
