Those involved in grassroots sport and recreation have just over a week left to enter this year’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards.
This year the awards, which recognise the very best in grassroots sport and recreation, offer seven categories in which sport and recreation clubs, initiatives and programmes can apply for a chance to win up to £2,500.
We are also delighted to announce some of the sponsors of the 2015 awards.
Professional Club Community Programme of the Year Award sponsored by the Professional Footballers’ Association
Professional clubs bring delight and despair to countless spectators. But many are not spectators in their own communities – far from it.
The Professional Club Community Programme of the Year award celebrates the hard work that professional clubs do to make sure that they are embedded into local life.
Whether it’s through inclusive programmes for disabled people or ethnic minorities to health and education initiatives – they use their standing in the community and their sport to improve people’s lives.
Volunteer Management sponsored by Volunteer Kinetic
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the sport and recreation sector with over two million people regularly giving their time and effort for the love of physical activity.
This award celebrates the club, programme or scheme that makes the most of those volunteers – offering them training, skills and rewards to make them feel that they are valued for all the hard work they put in.
Youth Volunteering sponsored by GB Group
Over the past few months the Sport and Recreation Alliance has been championing the Step Up to Serve’s #iwill campaign. The Alliance has worked closely with the charity to create a pledge for the sport and recreation sector in recognition that volunteers are fundamental to the sector.
