Double Olympic dressage champion Charlotte Dujardin has been named Sunday Times & Sky Sports Sportswoman of the Year for 2014.
Dujardin continued her dominance of the sport over the last 12 months, winning gold medals in the special and freestyle events at the World Equestrian Games in France as well as a silver in the team event.
Lizzie Yarnold and Jo Pavey came in second and third place respectively at the awards, which were supported by the Sport and Recreation Alliance.
Gymnast Claudia Fragapane won the young sportswoman prize after her four golds at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Team of the Year went to England’s rugby union team, who ended a run of three successive final defeats to win the World Cup in August.
They came out top of a public vote in the category, beating off competition from England’s cricketers, the 4x100 metres athletics relay squad and rowers Helen Glovers and Heather Standing.
Stephanie Slater, who won seven gold medals at the IPC European swimming championships was crowned disability sportswoman of the year.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Louise Martin, vice-chair of the organising committee for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with Sue Frett, the 75-year-old founder of the Surrey branch of the Special Olympics Great Britain, picking up the community award
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees for their success over the past twelves months and we look forward to rewarding the success stories that are to come in 2015.
