In this blog, Leadership Convention sponsors Perkins Slade discuss the benefits of pre-empting insurance queries to save time and streamline the insurance cover process.

Perkins Slade is the leading insurance broker for the sport and recreation sector in the UK, having worked with the Sport and Recreation Alliance for over 30 years. In addition, we are extremely pleased to have secured another three years as approved broker with the Alliance, which contributes to the strength of this relationship.

We have extensive experience of arranging cover for many Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games through to major spectator sports and recreational activities and our established position gives us access to market-leading insurance policies from specialist sport and recreation insurers.

Our progressive and innovative approach has given Perkins Slade a market-leading edge in this sector. One of our greatest initiatives was the development of the microsites, designed to mirror the clients own website, where insurance information is categorised into sub sections to advise members, clubs and coaches.

Each of the sites feature a “Frequently Asked Questions, (FAQ)” section which provides answers to cover some of the most recurring queries. There is also the option of a claims section where users can submit their enquiry to a reliable insurance professional at Perkins Slade. As a consequence, the launch of the microsites has greatly reduced the number of insurance related enquires handled by Perkins Slade clients, freeing up time for them to focus on their core activities.

Through the extensive insurance policies we offer and the excellent level of customer service we provide, we are able to help leaders to reduce their costs and save time to focus on other more pressing matters. This has been reflected in some of our testimonials responses:

"Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) appointed Perkins Slade on the understanding they would be able to provide both enhanced cover for our member groups and a reduction in our costs. I am delighted to say the improved programme of cover was arranged exactly as they had proposed, whilst achieving a saving in our insurance premiums.

Since then we have been impressed with the level of service received. In addition to the insurance programme itself, Perkins Slade has added value in other ways, including the development of an online insurance micro-site to improve communication with our member groups and reduce the administrative burden on our staff."

British Rowing added “We have worked with Perkins Slade for around 15 years. Their in-depth knowledge and understanding of sport, and the requirements of participants, staff and volunteers is excellent, and their advice has always been reliable and timely”.

Perkins Slade was recently shortlisted for a national customer service award at the UK Broker Awards 2015, to recognise the extent of the excellent customer service and advice we provide to clubs, regarding the importance of risk management and training for staff and volunteers; in addition to arranging appropriate insurance cover.

"The ASA and related companies have been working with Perkins Slade for over 20 years. Throughout the period we have benefitted from excellent advice and assistance on all related matters. The portfolio of cover is complex, with cover provided for all our members including swimmers, volunteers, officials, officers, teachers and coaches etc. Whenever claims have been submitted they have been handled in a calm, professional manner which reduces our workload considerably and all cases have been resolved satisfactorily.

In addition, they work to increase our level of cover year on year, with additional benefits offered on many occasions. The personal attention we receive from Directors, Account Executives and Claims ensures our staff have constant access to advice including out of business hours."

We are proud of the impartial, expertise of our qualified staff in offering risk management and comprehensive risk assessment services. Gary Barr, Business Systems and Administration Director from Camping and Caravanning Club commented:

"We were impressed with Perkins Slade's innovative ideas and enthusiastic approach, so we set them the challenge of renewing our insurances within expiring rates. Not only did they do that with ease but they have made significant improvements in cover and have added value in key ways; particularly in relation to their pro-active approach to marketing and communications, claims and risk management.

We are delighted we 'took the plunge' and appointed them and look forward to a long and successful working relationship. We would have no hesitation at all in recommending them”.
Archery GB also commented, "The Perkins Slade sports team provide a first class service demonstrating a real understanding of our sport and look to provide appropriate ways to mitigate risk."

Perkins Slade is pleased to be sponsoring the Sport & Recreation Alliance's Leadership Convention where this year’s theme is “Building for the future”, which expands on the Alliance’s earlier work this year with its previous campaign, helping the sector become “Fit for the Future”.

The convention will hopefully prove to be a successful networking opportunity, bringing together industry delegates and sponsors to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector and addressing the skills needed by leaders to navigate them.

This year’s convention is taking place at the Crowne Plaza, Nottingham on the 3 and 4 November 2015
