CCPR's AGM this year celebrates and thanks HRH The Duke of Edinburgh for 58 years of dedicated service as CCPR's President.

Prince Philip has steered the CCPR throughout over half a century of challenges and opportunities, with sport and recreation finally becoming a key focus within the political sphere. During this time, CCPR and its members have established many links with the health, education and community engagement sectors and it is now no longer seen as simply an 'add-on'.

Brigid Simmonds, Chair of CCPR said:

"With his multitude of responsibilities, it would be easy for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh to simply turn up once a year and say a few words. However, he has been a stalwart of CCPR, fully committed to providing for, protecting and promoting sport. Under his presidency, CCPR has become a modern and dynamic organisation, working for its members and truly becoming the voice of sport and recreation.

"We are delighted that HRH The Earl of Wessex will be taking over as President. There are many challenges ahead, but we will continue to ensure that sport and recreation are supported throughout them."
