More speakers have been announced for the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s Sports Summit 2015.
With the theme of this year’s Summit focussing on how the sector becomes fit for the future, we are delighted to announce Dave Wright, CEO of Creative Fitness Marketing and creator of the wearable technology tool MYZONE® as one of our speakers.
Dave is going to be talking about the growth of technology when it comes to monitoring and promoting physical activity.
While this technology is encouraging people to get active, it also presents a challenge for organisations who must tap into this market for their members or risk losing them to online communities. At the same time, if delivered well, technology presents an opportunity to connect with individuals and groups in deeper ways than before and build a stronger brand and membership.
There will also be a number of workshops at the Summit.
Simon Morton, Director of Major Events and International Relations at UK Sport, will be delivering a workshop around the Gold Framework and the strategy to support bidding for major events in the UK.
We are also pleased to announce that mental health charity, Mind, will be running a workshop on their work using sport to tackle mental health issues.
Led by Hayley Jarvis, Mind’s Sport Community Programme Manager, this session will focus on Mind’s Sport England-funded project that is helping people with mental health problems to get support and encouragement to join a sports club or group and will be giving practical tips and advice about how organisations can ensure that they can implement the pledges of the Mental Health Charter.
Both Dave, Simon and Hayley join our previously announced keynote speakers of Sport England CEO Jennie Price and four-time Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington MBE as part of our line-up.
A full programme of speakers and sessions will be available shortly.
