Following the announcement of the 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours list, the Sport and Recreation Alliance has compiled a list of all our members and others within the wider sport and recreation sector who have been honoured.

We at the Alliance would like to congratulate and thank all those honoured for their fantastic service to the sector – and the sheer number of those on the list is testament to the great work that has been performed over the past year right across the sector.

Among those honoured were:

  • Nigel Evans, Chair of England Golf, who was awarded the OBE for services to amateur golf.
  • Lizzy Yarnold, TeamGB skeleton racer, who was awarded the MBE for services to skeleton racing following her gold medal win at the Sochi Winter Games 2014.
  • Sally Bolton, General Manager of the Rugby League World Cup 2013, who was awarded the OBE for services to Rugby League.
  • Michael Heylin, lately Chair of the Angling Trust, who was awarded the OBE for services to angling.
  • Barbara Slater, Director of BBC Sport, who was awarded the OBE for services to sports broadcasting.
  • Sadie Mason, from Active Sussex, who was awarded the MBE for services to sport.

  • Shuna Body, lately Chair of British Disabled Fencing Association, who was awarded the MBE for services to wheelchair fencing.
  • Malcolm Morley, lately Chair of the British Wrestling Association, who was awarded the OBE for services to wrestling.

Here at the Alliance we were also particularly pleased to note that Jack Greenwood was awarded the BEM for voluntary service to cricket in West Yorkshire.
