The Sport and Recreation Alliance has partnered with the Non-Executive Directors’ Association (NEDA) to develop a range of governance advisory and support activities for the benefit of both organisations' membership.
NEDA is an independent members association which promotes and supports the day to day needs of non-executive directors at all levels – aspiring, new and experienced. They work with a number of partner organisations to offer comprehensive range of education, training, advisory, networking, mentoring and recruitment services.
The Alliance will be working very closely with NEDA, and the partnership has ambitious plans to provide additional support, guidance, help with board recruitment and access to networking opportunities to Alliance Directors Club and NEDA members. For Alliance Directors Club members specifically, this will include access to the Non-Executive Directors Handbook, informative technical advice and updates from the corporate, not-for-profit and government sectors and a number of ADC/NEDA networking events additional to the core Alliance Directors Club offer.
Louis Cooper, CEO of NEDA said, “We are excited by the opportunity of working with the Sport and Recreation Alliance, especially at a time when their Alliance Directors Club initiative is gaining momentum. As an organisation we support and promote Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) based on three core values:
Knowledge… understanding the NED role and its responsibilities
Performance… having the ability and skills to perform the role at a consistent, high level
Independence… bringing a balance of both positive challenge and business support to the board
We believe that our ‘KPI’ values are also essential for board members in sport organisations, especially with the renewed focus on the Voluntary Code of Good Governance.”
