AGENDA
1. CHAIRS REMARKS
Tracy Levy (TL) welcomed everyone to the meeting, invited introductions to be given around the room and gave a brief explanation of the agenda.
2. MEMBERS DISCUSSION
TL announced that Adrian Stockman (AS) was in attendance to field questions on GDPR. AS began by giving a summary of GDPR legislation.
Reference was given to the Alliances full day event in Nottingham in October 2017 from which members can refer to the member only GDPR hub on the Alliance website. AS explained that the feedback at the event lead to a strong demand for resources. The Alliance has recently been working with Sport England to get the funding and resources to produce materials for the wider sector. A webinar with partners Gateley Plc will take place in a few weeks’ time and members are invited to send in GDPR specific questions in advance.
Emma Boggis (EB) highlighted that the Alliance will provide general support and guidance but not necessarily organisational specific support. EB warned of scaremongering and informed members that GDPR does not stop you doing anything, it provides a framework you need to operate within and that the deadline for full compliance is the 25 May.
TL then addressed the recent announcement that in February 2016 PPL and PRS for music have together undertaken plans to create a joint venture in the form of a new operating company. Members were given a hard copy of the letter from PRS and PPL.
ACTION - members are invited to send in GDPR specific questions.
ACTION – Alliance to send out details of GDPR webinar to members when available
3. CHILD PERFORMANCE AND ACTIVITIES LICENCING LEGISLATION
Charlotte Adams (CA) summarised the ‘Child performance licensing and activities – overview of existing legislation’ handout which was circulated in the room and highlighted 3 key pieces of legislation.
Members should to refer to the handout for further information.

4. ALLIANCE UPDATE
a. An update on the Membership Review
Rob Arnott (RA) provided an overview of the membership review and thanked members for their contributions.
RA stated that the three key areas identified as being very important by members include, being part of a collective voice, being kept up to date with sector news and having access to our expertise – such as governance, policy and crisis communications support and advice.
The Alliance will be working to create more networking opportunities for members. We are also encouraging members to share case studies of best practice which they feel would be interesting / useful to other organisations.
RA also referenced the Member Reference Panel, a monthly email designed to help make sure the Alliance is speaking out on behalf of members appropriately. If you would like to join the Panel, please sign up on the Alliance Hub or contact Thea Rogerson (trogerson@sportandrecreation.org.uk).
b. An introduction to the Alliance Hub
Tom Morgan (TM) delivered a live demonstration of some of the key features of the Alliance Hub.
