Hosted in this iconic north London venue, the event, hosted by Alliance’s President, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and featuring other special guests, is a chance for our members and sector leaders to come together, hear about the Alliance’s and sector’s achievements over the past year, and discuss how we seize opportunities in the coming months to ensure sport and recreation thrives, getting more people participating around the country.

Opened in 2019, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is widely regarded as one of the premier and most accessible sporting venues in Europe. While primarily the home of Tottenham Hotspur, it also plays host to regular NFL matches, as well as concerts from global stars.
What to expect at the AGM?
The event will run from 9:30 to 2pm, with speeches, opportunity for Q&As, and many brilliant networking opportunities for members, with representatives from across the Alliance’s membership in attendance.
At the event the Alliance also gives out two historic awards in grassroot sport and recreation – the Arthur Bell Trophy and the Spirit of Sport and Recreation Award – presented by HRH Duke of Edinburgh.
The Arthur Bell Trophy is presented to individuals who have made a phenomenal contribution to the development of community sport or recreation in every year since 1985. Previous winners include Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Sir Bobby Charlton, and Lord Sebastian Coe.
In 2023, the award was won by double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes, for her work providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people to participate in sport through the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
The Spirit of Sport and Recreation Award, formerly the Emeritus Award, has been presented for over 20 years, and celebrates volunteers in the sector who have dedicated their lives to getting the nation active.
In 2023, the award was won by Harvinder ‘Babs’ Kandola, for his work in his community to ensure that young people have the opportunity to benefit from the power of sport and recreation through over 35 years of volunteering.
Previous winners of the Spirit of Sport and Recreation Award (formerly the Emeritus Award), include Sir Hugh Robertson KCMG MP, Dame Diana Ellis, and Dame Mary Peters CH DBE, as well as 2022 winner LTA President Sandi Procter.
