The deadline for respondents to have their say on the triennial review of UK Sport and Sport England is fast approaching (4 January). As such we thought we’d spell out why this is such a good opportunity for our members to have their say on the future of sports administration for the UK.
As we mentioned in the initial announcement, the two organisations are being reviewed together following the decision in 2013 to maintain them as separate bodies with a shared reform programme. The reforms were designed to allow them to work more closely together to realise significant strategic, economic and operational benefits.
The triennial review is being carried out to look at whether the functions that UK Sport and Sport England deliver are still required.
UK Sport and Sport England set the benchmark and agenda for sports organisations they fund, particularly in terms of their governance. As such it is now is your chance to participate in a comprehensive review process which should ensure that they are serving the interests of tax-payers, lottery players and the wider sporting community.
Part of the triennial review will include an assessment of how well the two bodies work together, particularly against the progress they’ve made against the conditions when it was decided to retain UK Sport and Sport England separate entities.
It is against these considerations that a decision will be made as to whether UK Sport and Sport England can work even closer together for the benefit of our members and also provide cost savings in the realm of governmental sporting administration.
We’re strongly urging and inviting our members to complete the online survey on the operational and strategic effectiveness of these organisations.
