The Alliance Board has always believed in strong corporate governance and the ability to be open, fair and transparent in its processes.
Our articles of association provide the framework for how the Sport and Recreation Alliance is governed, they were last updated at our Annual General Meeting in September 2020.
The Board has also established a set of Rules, as per Article 13, and these are amended by the Board from time to time.
Our corporate governance structure includes a Board of 12 directors, five Board Committees and a Senior Management Team of four directors.
The Board Chair is an independent director who is responsible for the leadership and effective functioning of the Board. All appointments to the Board are made as per our Board Recruitment Policy and all roles are publicly advertised. Upon appointment, all directors go through a rigorous and formal induction process.
Since 2020 Directors can serve for a maximum period of eight years (2 x four years). The Board has adopted a Code of Conduct for directors which requires all directors to act with integrity and in accordance with the Alliance’s Conflicts of Interest Policy.
Our Board conducts internal annual evaluation of its performance and its Committees and independent external evaluations are scheduled once every four years.
The Board is committed to complying with A Code for Sports Governance. Further details of our compliance can be found on our annual governance statements below.

The Board is supported by a core team that delivers the strategy of the Board. Essential to the successful implementation of our strategy are the people at the Alliance. We have developed a people strategy that aims to ensure that we attract and recruit those that can help us reach our goals, while also developing and retaining both new and existing team members.
