Archery GB is the national governing body for the sport of archery in the UK. Archery GB is the umbrella organisation for the English Archery Association, Archery Northern Ireland, Scottish Archery and the Welsh Archery Association. Our vision is to enrich lives through archery in Great Britain, from grassroots to performance level. Our mission is to rebuild, reimagine and represent archery in the next five years.
Archery GB is seeking an ambitious and strategic Head of Events & Competitions to lead the development and delivery of a high-quality, inclusive and engaging events and competitions programme that serves the entire archery community. Reporting to the Director of Sport Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of archery participation and competition across the UK, ensuring opportunities exist for everyone, from first-time participants and recreational archers through to elite athletes aspiring to Olympic and Paralympic success.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing Archery GB's Events & Competitions Strategy, leading a diverse portfolio of national competitions, participation events and major event opportunities. Working closely with members, clubs, volunteers, officials and key partners, you will review and enhance the current offer, introduce innovative community and participation-focused events and ensure all activities deliver exceptional experiences while supporting Archery GB's wider strategic objectives.
As a senior leader, you will oversee the Events & Competitions team, manage budgets and commercial performance, and drive continuous improvement through the effective use of insight, technology and stakeholder feedback. You will also explore and develop opportunities to host major national and international events, building strong relationships with sporting bodies, partners and sponsors to enhance Archery GB's reputation and create sustainable growth.
You should have significant experience leading events, competitions or sporting programmes, with a proven track record of strategic planning, operational delivery and team leadership. Experience developing new participation initiatives, managing budgets and using data to inform decision-making is essential. We're looking for a collaborative and commercially minded leader who can build strong relationships, inspire teams of volunteers and balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to delivering outstanding events that create value for members and the wider sport.
