Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the enhancement of the Great Britain Olympic Baseball programme with the goal of continuing the excellent performance trajectory. As a key driver in the programme’s growth, you’ll be responsible for building and shaping the team, developing high performance training structures, and implementing strategies to enhance performance on a global stage.
This initiative has the potential to elevate the sport to new heights, including leading the team at forthcoming European Championships and the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
The challenge is significant, but the rewards of shaping a winning team and advancing the sport make it an incredibly exciting opportunity.
The candidate will be an inspirational leader with an evidenced backed career within Baseball and ability to drive the programme forward and work with the Performance Director to develop an appropriate Performance Strategy that enhances the positive performance trajectory of Great Britain baseball.
About The Role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To develop, plan, communicate, and deliver an athlete centred programme that allows Great
Britain to challenge for medals at the forthcoming European Championships, to lead the team to the 2026 World Baseball Classic in the role of “Manager”.
- This includes management of an appropriate staff to
assist deliver the performance objectives.
- To enhance working relationships with all eligible players and staff members across the performance pathway, communicating and sharing plans and best practice.
- To set high performance standards and within the programme for staff and athletes and skills to critically analyse and evaluate progress.
- To build a performance environment and appropriate culture that excites others to be part of, and challenges players to strive for excellence individually and as a team.
- To oversee and lead on the identification and recruiting of eligible players through a variety of ways into the performance programmes.
- To empower all staff members to fulfil their roles and maximise the efficiency of the programme.
- To assist in the development of fair, transparent and effectively communicated athlete selection processes, and to uphold all BBF policies related to selection, safeguarding, data protection, equality and any other policy that is relevant.
- To formally attend and lead on weekly performance meetings, and any other relevant meeting related to the Olympic Performance Programme.
- To serve on the Performance Management Group for the Olympic Programme
The following are essential and required for the role:
- Hold a recognised international coaching qualification
- Experience of working in a national team programme and considerable experience in professional baseball
- Be able to demonstrate success on an international stage
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills
- Able to communicate fluently in English both written and verbally
- Willing to work irregular hours and travel extensively with overnight stays and weekend work
