At Together Active, we bring together communities, organisations, and partners across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to design out inactivity and reduce inequalities. As an independent charity and Active Partnership, we believe physical activity is a human right for all. Our work is shaped by strong partnerships, shared learning, and a commitment to creating lasting change.

We are the facilitators of the Place-Based Work in East Staffordshire, funded by Sport England. In this role, you will work for Together Active but be seconded to one of our host organisations for the duration of your contract.

We are working in partnership with Burton & District Mind, Burton Unity, Trent & Dove, and YMCA Burton to make sure that people who experience the biggest barriers to physical activity are listened to, included in producing activities, and feel pride in their Place.

This is an exciting time to join, as we are at the early stages of our journey. Sport England's Place Based Expansion work has been going ahead since 2018 across the country, and we are really excited for the investment and ways of working to be coming to East Staffordshire.

About The Role

As a Community Activator, you'll work with local people and communities across Burton-upon-Trent and Uttoxeter to understand what matters to them and support more people to be active. You'll spend time in communities, listening to peoples' experiences and ideas, exploring the barriers that can make being active more difficult and helping to support small changes and activities that can make a difference to peoples health and wellbeing. You'll also help gather and share community insight, build relationships with local organisations and partners, and support the wider Place Partnership to understand what is working, what is getting in the way and what could be done differently. Each day will look different. Youâ??ll shape your work around what you learn from local people and your host organisation, while working alongside the other Community Activators as a supportive group.

Further Information

All four Community Activators will be employed by Together Active. Each role will then be seconded to one of four host organisations for the duration of the contract, meaning you will work closely with that organisation and the communities they support while remaining a Together Active employee.

Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week (possible weekend and evening work)

Length of contract: 18 months (with possibility of extension subject to funding)

Salary: £28,000 pro-rata (£21,000 actual)

Location: Across East Staffordshire but based from one of the four host organisations (further details in recruitment packs)
