Board and Executive
Closing date: 1st November 2026
Established in 2002, Greenhouse Sports is a charity dedicated to creating a future where all young people feel supported and empowered through sport, regardless of the challenges they face. Through coaching and mentoring, the charity works with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping to address the urgent challenges associated with childhood deprivation.
Children from the poorest families are three times more likely to miss out on extracurricular activities than their wealthier peers, limiting their access to valuable opportunities for personal development, confidence-building and social connection. Greenhouse Sports is committed to tackling these inequalities by providing young people with the support, opportunities and skills they need to thrive.
As a Greenhouse Coach Mentor, you will use basketball as a tool to support the holistic development of young people. Through the STEP curriculum (Social, Thinking, Emotional and Physical), you will create positive, inclusive learning environments that help young people develop essential skills both on and off the court.
You will take ownership of your programme by planning and delivering purposeful sessions, building meaningful relationships, reflecting on your practice and adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of the young people you support.
You will also work closely with the Impact Team to collect high-quality data that demonstrates the effectiveness of the programme and measures its impact on young people. Data is collected at designated points throughout the year through case studies, questionnaires, skills assessments and fitness testing. You will regularly review participants' progress and set meaningful targets to support their continued development.
The role is based in Leicester and is offered on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension.
Greenhouse Sports is committed to safeguarding and child protection. As part of this commitment, you will be responsible for ensuring that all relevant policies and procedures are consistently followed, while maintaining accurate records of registered participants, staff and volunteers attending planned sessions.
To be considered for this role, you must hold an NGB Level 2 coaching qualification (or equivalent) and have proven experience in successfully delivering and managing high-quality basketball programmes for children and young people within a school, community or sports club setting.
You will demonstrate strong mentoring skills and experience, alongside excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills. These will be essential for effectively planning and managing the programme, monitoring progress and ensuring that all relevant data is accurately recorded and submitted in a timely manner.
You will also be passionate about the mission, values and ethos of Greenhouse Sports, with a genuine commitment to supporting young people to learn, grow and reach their full potential.
Greenhouse Sports provides all employees with comprehensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities and expects everyone to fully uphold its Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
To apply, please ensure you submit both your CV and a cover letter in support of your application.
Application deadline: Sunday 1 November at 11:59pm.
