Today Sport England has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Simon Hayes, who will begin the role in September.
Lisa Wainwright MBE, CEO of the Sport and Recreation Alliance said:
"On behalf of the Alliance, I want to warmly congratulate Simon Hayes on his appointment as Chief Executive of Sport England.
"Simon’s appointment comes at a crucial time for the sector and on behalf of our members, I very much look forward to working closely with him to ensure that together we are driving up participation in sport, recreation and physical activity across the country and tackling inequalities to create a healthier, happier and more prosperous nation.”
"I also want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the outgoing Chief Executive, Tim Hollingsworth, for his leadership over the past seven years including through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond and wish him well for the future."
