Emma Boggis, CEO of the Sport and Recreation Alliance responds to the news that Tracey Crouch MP has resigned from her position as Sport and Civil Society Minister.

“On behalf of the Sport and Recreation Alliance I would like to thank Tracey Crouch for her work as Minister for Sport and Civil Society. She developed and implemented an important new strategy, Sporting Future, which recognised the huge contribution that sport and recreation plays in our society and her own personal passion for sport has shone through her actions. The new strategic approach has meant that the social impact of sport and recreation and the difference it can make to people's lives has been more explicitly recognised by government than ever before.

“On a personal note I have enjoyed working with Tracey and look forward to developing a strong relationship with her successor.

“We will continue to act as a critical friend to government and would urge the incoming minister to continue to recognise the huge potential of sport and recreation to play a significant part in tackling some of our society’s biggest challenges. Together we can strengthen communities and save lives, but we need the support of a minister who champions our sector and brings colleagues from across Westminster with them.”
