Funding up to £100,000 available for grassroots projects

  • community sports coaching projects
  • setting up new sports teams
  • coach develop

Sport England’s Sportsmatch programme is providing matched funding to not-for-profit organisations, to help deliver new community projects for adults and young people aged 14 and over.

Sportsmatch uses money from the government to encourage sponsorship of grassroots community sport, and can match funding from between £1,000 to £100,000.

Sportsmatch can match sponsorship of up to five commercial companies, charitable trusts or private individuals, if each of them contributes a minimum of £1,000.

Sportsmatch is looking to fund a wide range of projects including:

  • community sports coaching projects
  • setting up new sports teams
  • coach development projects
  • additional sports equipment
  • sports development within existing clubs
  • national projects
  • events which increase participation.

Sportsmatch is unable to match sponsorship from government or lottery funding, Landfill and Section 106 money, or a sports delivery organisation investing in its own sport.
