Nominate an inspirational young person for our a special version of our flagship awards!

To mark the Alliance’s 90th anniversary, we are launching the Community Sport and Recreation Awards: Youth Edition 2025, which will celebrate the next generation of young leaders from across the sector.

While 2025 will be a year to look back and celebrate the achievements of the Alliance (formerly the Central Council of Physical Recreation), we also wanted to take an opportunity to look to the future, and this special edition of our flagship awards is the perfect way to do so.

There are nine award categories, which reflect the breadth of the contribution young people make to the sport and recreation sector. Find a description of each of the categories below, and click on the links to apply before the deadline on 12 February 2025 (please note that nominees must be aged between 18-30 during 2025):

Young Coach of the Year
This award recognises an outstanding coach who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and innovation in sports coaching. It honours a coach who has not only achieved remarkable results with their team but has also shown a commitment to the personal development of their participants. The recipient embodies the spirit of sportsmanship, fosters a positive and inclusive environment, and serves as a role model within the community.

Young Advocate of the Year
This award recognises a young person who has passionately championed a cause within the sport and recreation community. It honours someone who has demonstrated remarkable dedication, leadership, and impact in promoting issues such as inclusivity, mental health, environmental sustainability, or social justice in sports and recreation. The recipient has made significant strides in raising awareness, influencing policy, and inspiring others to take action.

Young Community Champion of the Year
This award recognises an inspiring individual who has made significant contributions to their community through sport and recreation. It honours a young person who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing community spirit, fostering inclusivity, and supporting local sports initiatives. The recipient's efforts have positively impacted the lives of others, promoting unity and engagement within their community.

Young Sustainability Innovator of the Year
This award recognises an individual who has shown exceptional creativity and dedication in integrating sustainability within the sport and recreation community. It honours a young person who has developed innovative solutions to environmental challenges, promoting eco-friendly practices in sports, recreation and physical activity. The recipient has demonstrated leadership in raising awareness, engaging the community, and implementing impactful sustainability initiatives.

Young Inclusivity Champion of the Year
This award recognises an inspiring individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting inclusivity within the sport and recreation community. It honours a young person who has actively worked to create a welcoming environment for all, regardless of background, ability, or identity. The recipient has initiated or supported programs that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, making sports, recreation and physical activity accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Young Fundraiser of the Year
This award recognises an exceptional individual who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and innovation in raising funds for sports, recreation or physical activity related causes. It honours a young person who has shown remarkable initiative and creativity in organising successful fundraising campaigns, significantly benefiting their sports and recreation community. The recipient has engaged and inspired others to support their cause, effectively mobilising resources and generating substantial financial support.

Young Sports Official of the Year
This award recognises an outstanding individual who has demonstrated exceptional skill, integrity, and dedication in their role as a sports official. It honours a young person who has shown remarkable proficiency in officiating, consistently upholding the rules and spirit of the game while ensuring fairness and sportsmanship.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year
This award recognises an exceptional individual who has demonstrated remarkable innovation, vision, and business acumen in the sport and recreation sector. It celebrates a young entrepreneur who has successfully launched or grown a sports-related business, product, or service that has made a significant impact. The recipient has shown the ability to identify opportunities, overcome challenges, and drive growth, all while contributing positively to the sports community. 

Young STEM in Sport Award
This award recognises an individual who has made significant contributions to the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in the sport and recreation sector. It honours a young person who has creatively applied STEM principles to enhance sports performance, fan engagement, or community inclusion. The recipient has demonstrated a unique ability to blend technical knowledge with artistic creativity, leading to advancements in sports technology, analytics, or design. 

These awards represent a fantastic opportunity for young people from across the sport and recreation sector to be recognised for their achievements, and highlighted as leaders of the next generation.
