The Sport and Recreation Alliance’s flagship learning and training event, the Fit for the Future Convention returns Wednesday 26 January 2022 with a focus on helping the sector to embrace technology.

The event, to be staged at Millennium Point in Birmingham, will provide insight and expertise from within the sector as guest speakers share their experiences and advice from their own journey into technology.

Also in attendance to offer their professional expertise and free support on the day are headline sponsors Air IT along with Joymo, GameDay, IASME and Datto. They will also be taking their time to discuss how sport and recreation could better work alongside technology companies to enhance the products they offer and the service they provide.

Day tickets for members are priced at £50, a hugely reduced rate on previous years as we try to get the sector back together on mass. There is an additional networking opportunity in the evening, with an event ticket, including dinner priced at just £70 for members.

Alternatively, member organisations can buy a group ticket for £200 which allows five individuals to join us for the day.

Lisa Wainwright MBE, Alliance CEO, said: “After consultation with our members, we are using this year’s Fit for the Future Convention to focus on an aspect of delivery that we all understand the importance of, but don’t always know how to take advantage of.

“Remote working and online services have taken a more central focus over the last 18 months and as a sector we need to be prepared and equipped to be on the front line of embracing technology.

“It isn’t just about virtual meetings anymore – technology will continue to play a key role in every area of our business and delivery models. As a sector, we should look to be ahead of the curve and use current advances to support our work, this event provides an excellent opportunity to start this process.

“We also look forward to taking this convention to Birmingham, marking the start of a big year for the city which is also lined up to host the Commonwealth Games next summer.”

The event will be supported by AirIT as headline sponsors, and Andrew Penlington, Regional Director at Air IT added: “As a longstanding partner of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, we’re delighted to be headline sponsors of Fit for the Future 2022.

“The convention is always a huge success and will be a great chance to reconnect with fellow members and sector leaders, as well as highlighting the role that technology can play in supporting sports and physical activity at all levels.

“Since the pandemic, technology has become even more paramount - from the way people participate in sports and how programmes are delivered to the ways that organisations and employees communicate, and access information securely and effectively.

“As well as exhibiting and holding one-to-one technology workshops throughout the day, we’re looking forward to bringing together a panel of tech experts, exploring how organisations can adopt new technologies and create a closer link between tech and physical activity.”

If your organisation has embraced technology to achieve organisational goals recently, we’d love to feature you in the event. Please get in touch at membership@sportandrecreation.org.uk.
