Strategy 2021-25 ()

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is delighted to reveal its new four-year strategy named ‘Support. Recover. Achieve.’

Following extensive consultation with Alliance members, stakeholders and sector partners this strategy outlines all you need to know about what we will be aiming to achieve and how we will be helping our members over the coming years.

Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Wainwright said: “The Alliance remains steadfast in our belief that sport and recreation has the power to transform lives and bring communities together. It was clear from our work with members that we must focus our efforts in many areas, from creating a more inclusive sector to helping physical activity recover from the drastic impact of the COVID pandemic.

“This is why we will remain true to the aims of our strategy. We will support our membership and the sector, providing advice, guidance and advocacy. We will play our role in helping our members to recover with training sessions, networking opportunities and best practice sharing. We will work determinedly to achieve a future for sport and recreation which works for everyone, in every area and every community.

“Our objectives and their goals outline our commitment to showcasing the incredible benefits that come through sport and recreation and we will amplify this across government, the media and the sector as we deliver on our aims.

“We recognise that the last year has had a detrimental effect on activity levels and it has hit some organisations extremely hard. That is why our strategy plans to support our members in the immediacy and over the next four years.”

Andrew Moss, Chair of the Alliance, added: “Areas such as sustainability, equality and diversity will be a focus of our support. We have listened to our members and will be working with sector partners to develop better knowledge bases, to build strong research and to make our sector more inclusive.

“Most importantly, the Sport and Recreation Alliance will continue to proudly function as an independent voice for sport and recreation.

“The Alliance will support its members as they continue to recover from this global crisis, and we look forward to helping achieve our collective vision of a more active nation.”
