The Sport and Recreation Alliance is delighted to announce Active IQ as our lead sponsor for this year’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

Active IQ is the UK’s leading awarding organisation for the active leisure, learning and wellbeing sector with more than 500 approved centres across the UK and internationally.

Having played a crucial role in helping us deliver our annual awards for the past two years as an award sponsor, the Alliance decided it was fitting for the organisation to be the lead sponsor at this year’s virtual event.

Lisa Wainwright, CEO of the Sport and Recreation Alliance said, “We share a commitment to making our sector inclusive for all and we are really excited to be continuing this partnership as we celebrate the very best of grassroots sport and recreation up and down the country.

“The past year has been like no other and we can’t wait to recognise all those that have helped the nation stay active, healthy and happy at this incredibly challenging time.

“It is a real shame that we won’t be able to do this in person, but our virtual ceremony promises to be a brilliant occasion for all involved.”

Jenny Patrickson, Managing Director at Active IQ reiterated her excitement ahead of the online celebration.

“We are delighted to be involved as the lead sponsor for this year’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

“2020 was a difficult year for many and particularly for grassroots sport. So, it is only right we take a moment to celebrate some of the amazing efforts local community sports clubs and programmes have made to help their community.

“Sport and exercise can be powerful tools to help those through a difficult time and the ingenuity shown by entrants is humbling. I would like to wish all the finalists the very best of luck!”

Running for over 25 years, our annual awards showcase the hard work and positive impact of grassroots sport and recreation in the country’s local communities. This year marks the Alliance’s first ever virtual ceremony, with the event due to take place via Zoom at 5pm on Thursday 11 March.

Everyone is welcome to attend our ceremony so gather your friends, family and colleagues and get your free tickets today!

We have an incredible cohort of finalists this year, including a high-flying boxing club, brilliant dog walking initiative and leading physical activity programme for military veterans.
