MPs to debate outdoor sport and recreation policy

Next Wednesday 10 September, MPs will debate the Government’s policy on outdoor sport and recreation.

The debate, secured by Huw Irranca Davies MP in conjunction with the Sport and Recreation Alliance, will give MPs the opportunity to raise concerns about how Government policies have been affecting the outdoors, and also highlight innovative projects and schemes in their own constituencies.

The debate follows the publication of Reconomics, the Alliance’s study of the economic impact of the outdoors, which has received support from MPs. The debate will take place in Committee Room 10 between 2.30 and 4pm.

James Allen, head of policy at the Sport and Recreation Alliance said:

"This is a great opportunity to debate outdoors issues in Parliament. We are grateful to Huw Irranca Davies for his work in securing the debate, and look forward to hearing MPs discuss the Government’s position.

"I would encourage all members to get in touch with MPs and encourage them to attend the debate. With a good turnout and lively debate we can demonstrate to the Minister how important these issues are."
