Alliance publishes its response to the sports strategy consultation

The Sport and Recreation Alliance today published its response to the Government’s recent sports strategy consultation.

Following the opening of the consultation process in August, the Alliance has been meeting with its membership in order provide comprehensive feedback on what the sector wants to see from a new sports strategy and how it can contribute to its success.

Alliance members contributed to this response through a number of methods; direct responses, direct technical input from our working groups, face-to-face meetings with over 100 members as well as round table and divisional meetings.

Speaking about the process, Emma Boggis the Alliance's Chief Executive said, "Since the consultation process opened our members have been pro-actively engaging with us to make sure their voice and the voice of the sport and recreation sector is heard and represented as one."

"There is a real desire from our members to create greater working relationships and partnerships in order to ensure that more people have access to sport and recreation opportunities and secure the wide range of benefits we know come from them. The key point in making this strategy a success will be progress on genuine cross government working and we look forward to seeing an ambitious approach which makes this clear and has buy in – in terms of commitment and resource - from across Whitehall."
